Local non-chain dentist office pisses me off every time this happens. Wonder if anyone else has run into this, and what Doc has to say…
You see at this office, all things are normal for routine work like cleaning, xrays, and examination. You get your work and you pay$ your money. No sweat.
What chafes me is when heavier work is required, like fillings about $450 a piece root canal, implant, crown, etc. The expectation at my office is that the Victim must pay the FULL tab upon scheduling the work! In this case, the nearest schedule is almost 2 months out and the tab is about 3 kilo bucks.
In the past I have pushed some, by giving a hefty down payment and agreeing to pay it off before the work commences. Sure I understand pay now because we preped and are ordering your crown, but no this is long in advance. Does anyone find this normal and customary?
I have never heard of having to prepay weeks or months ahead of time. I have always had to pay an estimate at the time of service. Technically when they are done and not before they start.
Not dental but I am having surgery on my foot next month. The podiatrist wants an $800 deposit before surgery even though I am 100% covered by insurance. I called my insurance rep, who then called them and he assured me that if they don’t refund it the insurance company will go after them to get me my money back.
Problem occurred over long term
Big toe has turned into a “hammer toe” and turns inward that pushed the bone in the last pad of my second toe down. Have to break the big toe and turn it straight and straighten out the last bone in my second toe.
Will be in a boot and probably a scooter for two weeks, total recovery 6 weeks.
