DAC is gone

Complicated man, but I really did like his music.

I seen him a couple times, fun concert. I also used to have his under ground album on cassette, lost it years ago.

Ya, probably wouldn’t play that in mixed company.

I listened to it once, from a YouTube link. That was enough.

But he also wrote some amazing songs, including one hé partially stole from Townes Van Zandt. Both versions are beautiful.

I think he collaborated with some people too.

I heard it in the 90’s,. haven’t listened to it since.

On the good side, I may go see Ramblin’ Jack Elliott in a couple of weeks. Dude is 94, when will there be another chance?

Talented dude, hilarious songs. RIP

Looks like his kid Tyler hasn’t posted anything since September. Not sure where the two of them were, DAC was a tough dude and they had been estranged for a while.

Tyler has made a video statement. Looks like they were still estranged.

Not sure if there is a non-FB place to watch it.

Very well said by Tyler

You should check out his podcast. HĂ© turned season two into a book.

I have listened to a few episodes

Parrot, you see this?

Oh ya, I knew about that.
I love Buffett’s quote, “I would have sued him, but I didn’t want to give Coe the pleasure of having his name in the paper.”

The funny thing is, the two had several mutual songwriter friends.

As I recall, when someone asked why Townes VZ didn’t sue him, he said DAC had all these Hell’s Angels around, so better not to risk it.

Plus, both songs were great.

What was the beef with TVZ?

Actually DAC was a member of the Outlaws biker “club”.

Townes:

And DAC:

Similar melody, similar sentiment, but songs ended up different. I like them both.

TVZ’s sounds very “folk”, but DAC’s sounds country.
But i definitely get the resemblence
