Crazy health care statistics

I read a tweet from AOC and didn’t actually believe it so I checked it out.

41% if child births in the country are paid for by Medicare.

Products - Data Briefs - Number 468 - May 2023.

This is a serious concern.
Either culturally or policy wise, there is no reason that many births should be paid for by the taxpayers.

I think you meant Medicaid. The people on Medicare are too old to give birth.

You’re right , thanks
My mistake

If a person can’t afford to pay for the birth of a child, how can they afford to support it. This is obviously a rhetorical question because the answer is obvious.

Agree.

If people had to work for their benefits or repay the taxpayers I’m sure the number of people having kids they can’t afford would drop.

Im not surprised. I live in rural poor county. The population is only 17,000 in the entire county. My wifes uncle is a MD in the town and was on the school board. He once told me that 99% of all kids in the county are on state medicaid. My kids are 2 of the very few on private Healthcare

So the taxpayers are supporting people that cannot afford to have kids. This has been going on forever…

When I was growing up a girl was led to believe that her life would be ruined if she got pregnant and wasn’t married. Now that it is socially acceptable to have a child out of wedlock there is an epidemic of single women having children that they can’t afford.

I don’t care if someone wants a kid out of wedlock, but I do care if they expect me to pay for it.

New Mexico leads the country in yet another category, with 34% of its population on Medicaid. I suspect the numbers are higher because the state is notorious for its inability to provide timely and accurate statistics regarding its expenditures and related items.

Vance wants women to be breed mares plop plop plop. Have they stopped funding for planned parenthood for birth control yet? And don’t bring up abortion because Federal funds do not pay for abortions.

FOR FUCKS SAKE

That reminds me of when Roe vs Wade was overturned and one poster here said that was turning poor women into baby factories.
