I have a fairly high pain tolerance. Even after being hit by a car, I was only in “pain” when I would do to stand up, and I didn’t want drugs in my body for a couple of seconds of pain. A couple of years after being hit I went over the handlebars after hitting an expansion joint in the road that was parallel to the lane. I was checking my mirror when I drifted to the left and my front wheel went into the joint. It stops the bike very quickly…but the rider continues to obey Newton’s law and continues travelling forward. I put my left arm out and landed on my hand and did some kind of a ninja move to push me back and over. I dislocated two fingers. I put them back into place before the others could check on me.
Adrenaline and do some wonderful things because I wasn’t in any pain then, and since my bike wasn’t damaged, I rode it 15 miles home before driving to urgent care. When I got to urgent care is when the hurting started. But again, nothing that ibuprofen couldn’t help, although they gave me a script for oxy “just in case”. I never used it.
