Once again Citibank has degraded their virtual card product. Once upon a time you could use these for payments to unknown/untrusted suppliers, and you could set both a limit and an expiration. Maybe I am dreaming of BoA shopsafe product.
Several months ago Citi altered their offering, eliminating the possibility to set an expiration, and doing away with meaningful spending limit. In its place they offer DAILY spending limit, so a vendor can hit you every day up to the specified amount. This absolutely STINKS and just bit me; a merchant decided to “give” me a subscription and I just discovered it!
Yes yes I know one should look carefully every month, but I slipped. Had there been a limit for just what I bought, it would not have happen.
Does anyone know of any better Virtual card offering?
