Black Monday Firings

So far only Doug Peterson and Jerod Mayo have been fired following the end of the NFL season. Three other NFL coaches were fired mid-season, so that is a total of five openings so far.

I am somewhat surprised that Raheem Morris has not been fired by the Falcons. They way they lost the last two games of the season and missed the playoffs.

Also, the New York Giants are sticking with Brian Daboll as coach along with Joe Schoen as general manager. That won’t give that fan base a lot to look forward to. At the same time, I did see one article a while back that made the case about how messed up the Giants were when they took over and how they would need a lot of time to straighten things out.

Dont forget about the QB fiasco…

Don’t know if that’s Morris fault, I blame that on Kirk Cousin’s agent.

I think Vrabel is the best candidate out there.
Will probably go to the Pats.

I suspect if Vrabel wasn’t available, the Pats would have kept Mayo. You don’t usually fire after one season unless it’s pretty damn bad.

There are a few articles that talk about how bad it was in New England last year.

On another note, Antonio Pierce just got fired.

And, Mike McCarthy is out in Dallas.

Not terribly surprised at this one…he has been hanging on by a thread the last couple of seasons. Jerry doesn’t have unlimited patience…

I can’t decide if McCarthy would be a good fit in Chicago. Bears asked to talk to him last week and were told no, now they can.

Jerry Jones was just being an asshole.

And in other news, water is wet

Owner Jerry Jones really needs to fire GM Jerry Jones.

I thought I saw an interview recently that said he would never give up GM

As I said before, Jerry Jones the businessman is brilliant while Jerry Jones the NFL GM is clueless. That will be his legacy as the owner of the Cowboys.

He increased the value of the franchise many times over and got Jerry’s World built, but he failed to make even one NFC Conference Championship Game after the 1995 season.

More on Jones:

They had a nice run, basically built on the lopsided Herchel Walker trade. Built what was probably the best OL in the history of football. After that, meh.

He wants Deion Sanders to do it
