Best music

which decade do you think had the best music?

Considering that at many places today, the “background” music is from the 80’s, that would have to get my vote.

For pop music, yeah. Though it was my teen years, so that may affect how I view it.

60s maybe most innovative.

Agreed.
Hair metal
Country
Pop
Even 80’s rap was good

For pure rock and roll I would say the 70s, I like the late eighties to mid '90s because that’s what I grew up with. As far as the best music, you could ask a hundred people and get a hundred different answers.

I am a fan of early R&R and blues, and I think the 60s is probably the best decade encompassing those two genres. For me, the best 10 year period would probably be 1955-1965, the time when rock really came into being, carried by the blues.

Though, this morning, I’m listening to rural folkie stuff from the 20s and 30s.

A couple of days ago we were listening to some old acoustic blues, 30s and 40s. My wife sometimes delves into the Carter family. I am sorry to say that I got a bit tired of folk music in the early 60s, but a little Richie Havens is still good for my soul.

But, even Dylan went electric in 1965, when he was booed for it, while backed by the group who later became The Band. Muddy Waters went electric in 1967-68, when he released his Electric Mud album covering some of his early acoustic music. I really like that album but he was criticized for the change. There’s a big ocean of music out there and I encourage anyone to dip their toes into different eras of it.
