AT&T pulling plug on landlines?

I don’t have a landline, but some people live in areas that don’t have cell service. What are they going to do if this is true?

VOIP. With satellite internet if need be.

Thanks to Elon Musk for creating Starlink. :trophy:

We had a landline until a couple of months ago. A new cell tower was finally erected that sends a decent signal to our house (at least most of our house). We also converted our alarm system to wireless. Our provider was CenturyLink, which also serves CA, AZ and other western states. We, and others, were without the landline for most of two months and they didn’t seem to care.

ATT has agreed to acquire all of CenturyLink’s wired business, phone and internet, for $6 billion. Expected to close early next year. There are a lot of people here have no cell availability (at least 15-20% of the population) and many live off grid.

I still use DSL at home that travels on landline.

Been there done that. Verizon dumped all their rural on Frontier which was even worse. No decent cell service. I managed to get a fixed wireless for several years it was slow and expensive but good enough for VoIP. If I had not left I wouldn’t have been able to keep my job.

Going back a long time lying liars promised to hook everyone up. No president did but Elon did!! President lied Elon got it done. So if you are rural get that satellite. I might but my new place came with Commie Cast cable and I didn’t know who did wire lines here…
