Ads in apps that lock the game app

When I use game apps to play wordscapes and free cell on my iPhone these apps frequently lock up from ads. Aside from rebooting my iPhone, how can I resolve the problem. This only happens in game apps and is not a problem with my regular apps. Deleting and reinstalling the game app only solves the problem temporarily.

This is also not a problem when I play games on a website such as wordle or a crossword puzzle.

I am starting to wonder if these ads on game apps are a variation of a virus and should refrain from using them.

I deleted games apps that do that. I have the NY Times app and do a small crossword and wordle daily. Find others

One solution you may or may not like is to only use games you pay for, with no ads.
