Acura radio code

This morning my Acura wouldn’t start so AAA came to my house to replace its battery. Since then there has been a message on its computer screen to enter my PIN number. I checked my manual and documents that came with the car but couldn’t find a PIN number for it. So I called the Acura dealer and they told me I will have to bring the car to the dealer because if I don’t know the PIN number they will have to reprogram it. They also told me I wouldn’t have had this problem if they were the ones who changed the battery.

This PIN number is only needed for the radio and navigation system and is a device to prevent the car radio from being stolen. The rear view camera still works on that screen when I back up.

Is anyone familiar with this situation.

I think the Acura dealer is being disingenuous.

Nobody takes their car to the dealer for battery replacement and there is no way a new battery should require dealer intervention.

I’m wondering if this is Acura trying to force the issue, make people come ij for something they never would have otherwise.

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. My daughter’s family is coming to Connecticut from Atlanta this week so I planned to go to the Acura dealer after they go back to Atlanta to get this problem resolved

However, I just decided to go through all the paperwork my husband had from when he purchased the Acura but didn’t find anything that looked like a radio code. Then I looked through every manual in the case of manuals that came with the car. One of them was a maintenance booklet which I didn’t think would have what I needed but I noticed on its first page there was a check off list for the initial inspection and on that page I also saw a handwritten RC with a few numbers after it. So I went to the car and pushed the on switch for the radio and saw the words radio code. I then pushed the numbers for that code and noticed that my GPS map was now on the screen and the radio now works.

Since the dealer was making this issue sound so complicated I was delighted that I was able to resolve the problem by myself.
