To be honest, I didn’t eat them when they were popular. I’ve tried most at least once and still enjoy a malted milkshake occasionally and cottage cheese is making a comeback. We always have pickled herring at Thanksgiving and Christmas, a Norwegian tradition. I also never heard of a Robin pie, must be regional.
Did anyone ever really eat fruit cake ?
Still eat salsbury steak on a regular basis.
Have root beer floats every once in a while.
And pickled herring with my FIL at Thanksgiving and Christmas
I still love cottage cheese omelets which are a great source of lean protein
Same here about cottage cheese. You can easily find that in the supermarket too. I do not know why that made the list.
Like candy corn every few years I’ll try it and then remember why I don’t eat it.
My wife still likes it with canned peaches or pears, we also mix it with sour cream and chives for a baked potato topping. There are a lot of cottage cheese recipes online lately because it’s high in protein, people make low carb wraps with it.
Me three, FYI, I found a new way to eat it.
Pineapple chunks and Tajin.
I’ve been using Tajin for years. In the Mexican areas of Chicago street venders sell elote and mango on a stick and use Tajin. I also like it to rim a glass for Bloody Mary’s. I’ll use it for a wing rub and then glaze with hot honey or maple syrup.
It was a treat for my grandparents’ generation. My dad loved olive loaf.
I have a malt maybe once a year. Haven’t had a real soda in a few decades. In Detroit, we had Vernors’ floats, not root beer floats. Other than those and TV dinners, I was never a fan of anything else on the list.
I learned to use it for margaritas instead of salt when I was in Mexico.
I usually don’t like fruit cake but when I was growing up our Irish housekeeper’s daughter made one for our family every holiday season. It took her a few days to make it so we felt it was a labor of love
If you really want to drink something healthy drink ginger tea cold brewed. It is an acquired taste but how much better it makes me feel.
Ambrosia salad I eat. It has to be somewhere. I’d never make it.
I make Salisbury steaks
Succotash is still common. Its served at Cheesecake Factory and other places.
My mother frequently made a beautiful ambrosia salad that was delicious when she had a dinner party
I vaguely remember getting a fruitcake several years ago and making a french toast concoction out of it.
I am sure there are worse sounding things, but at the moment I can’t think of any.
I have never tried it again.
I’ve had tang a few times. I think the orange drink in the army was tang. My mom bought it once and found it disgusting.
