We just removed it. He’s been on the Zoloft since June - 25 mg - half a pill in the morning and evening. The psychiatrist would like to help him with the nightmares so she’s thinking 37.5mg as he does get nauseated. He has had suicidal thoughts too. When he has stressors like health class or annoying kids in school, he gets aggressive at home
That’s why therapy is good. You can’t drug them into submission. They have to learn impulse control and what is acceptable behavior.
Yes. I’m happy his therapist is using CBT with a trauma focus. Definitely speaking about his abuse and it being Thanksgiving has brought back a lot of difficult memories which is why we’ve had a relapse of behaviors that we hadn’t seen in weeks / months
Of course being a teenager and knowing it all definitely “helps” with “comprehending” therapy.
Thanks for all the suggestions and help Wintermute
No problem. Life isn’t a solo journey. Sometimes people need to vent or get opinions. You’ve taken on a struggle that few could handle and I commend you for it.
Forgot to add, some insurance companies had coordinators to help you with the treatment plan, suggest referrals ,etc
Typically I wouldn’t suggest one because their goal is to reduce cost and not always solve problems. In this case, they may be a good resource to help you navigate all the different issues and recommend the appropriate specialist.
Thank you. That is probably a time saver.
Of course finding a pediatrician who knows about trauma and/or FASD is important
