I play WORDLE with five other friends & family and we share our answers with each other as we finish that day’s puzzle. Normally the players are across three time zones and right now one of them is on a river cruise in France. Sorting out who’s playing which day’s puzzle gets real interesting because no one wants to send the answer before the other has completed the day’s puzzle. Is anyone here experiencing similar challenges with on-line games played within a group?

Once upon a time a popular UNIX game was NetHack. It was a multi-person shooter, all done in monochrome text characters. Local teacher was a UNIX hippie and he played it a lot, and his dream was a connection fast enough to see the other players before they zapped him.

Sounds like a similar phenomenon, albeit at speeds no faster than a 33.6 KB modem could carry. You need speed and low latency. Today’s connections are light years ahead of what they were using but it seems challenge is the same 🙂

Wordle happens at a much slower pace, I think most gamers would find it kinda boring.

I think gamers have played a sigbificant role in moving techology along at a faster pace than it would have been had they not demanded more powerful processers and faster graphics cards, not to mention faster comunication speeds.
