Is there anything you learned at school that you thought you would never need to know, but you subsequently did?
Literature in high school, Art in college. Although I did convince the professor to let me do my term paper on custom cars. He was clueless about cars and I got an A on the paper. Actually used Hot Rod magazine as one of my sources.

I had a list until you added “but subsequently did”.
We had some writing courses … seemed to be based on archaic English.
Years ago, My employer offered a course in Business Writing styles… much better than anything I got in school.
