Went to the Spokes on 66 Show in Grants NM yesterday. Just a few pics of the masterful work on cars that used to be more than wheeled appliances..

Wouldn’t be New Mexico without low riders

How about a low riding bike?

My parent’s 1965 Comet never looked this good.

Everyone is welcome in New Mexico.

Some cool cars. Local car shows were a bigger thing around here a few years ago but people seem to be losing interest.

These shows are actually getting more popular here. There’s a surprisingly number of people restoring older cars. The climate can be forgiving to cars.

There’s also a lot of interest because 2026 is the centennial of Route 66. Each of the 8 states with parts of the old road, even Kansas with its 13 mile stretch, has a Route 66 Association and each is planning some events. The Springfields, Illinois and Missouri, and Tulsa OK have already planned large car shows and other events. I know of two car groups that have announced plans for driving the current 2,200+ mile route. Even my wife and I are tossing around the idea of doing the route.
