Pharmacy Closings

Scummy corporate dental chains claim the same thing: “There is a shortage of dentists!”

No there isn’t. There is a shortage of pharmacists, dentists, physicians, and every other professional that will work their fingers to the bone crummy hours and weekends for big box stores.

I have two friends that run independent pharmacies with decent hours and a pleasant working environment. They have no problem finding pharmacists.

Chains are terrible employers. CVS and Wal-Mart are the last resorts for employment for pharmacists. I can rarely phone a prescription in to these chain pharmacies. I stay on hold forever. They lie to patients when they are out of drugs.

Of course, it doesn’t help that a pharmacy degree has gone from a 5 year bachelor’s degree about 10 years ago to a 7 year doctoral program. Same is true for physical therapy, by the way.

Educational inflation for no good reason other than bloodsucking academia addicted to student loan money.

I know it won’t for me. I take Ozempic for diabetes, but it’s gotten really popular as a weight loss drug. I don’t care if technology gets the cost to produce it down to a nickle, it will stay well over $800 per month for the vanity users.

One other thing I’ve noticed more and more frequently - a prescription is filled using a prefilled bottle from the manufacturer…the pharmacist only needs to pull the bottle and that’s it.

I believe that’s because of the shortage as well. I’ve seen that more as well. Everything is pre-dosed. I’ve seen that a lot with narcotics.

They had to give me several bottles when I had my cancer surgery. Each bottle was a three day supply (most doctors are limited to three days)
