I doubt that even if MLB did approve such a set-up they could implement it this year on such short notice. If MLB had given the go-ahead they would have to sort out the logistics, contractual arrangements, etc. That is why I thought you were referring to Toronto, which may have that real-life scenario to deal with this year.

When you think about it, moving the franchise to Montreal could work rivalry-wise. There would be the natural Canadian rivalry with Toronto, plus Boston and Montreal have the hockey rivalry which could extend to baseball.
