Limitations of Long Term Care Insurance

As I have previously said my husband and I decided not to buy long term care insurance and be self insurers. However, even if he had long term care insurance it wouldn’t have helped much with the assistant living facility because they probably would have only paid for the three weeks he was actually there. I doubt they would have covered the non refundable “community fee” that was equal to a months rent that I had to pay when I signed his lease or when I was paying to hold his unit while he was in the hospital and at the SNF during the time period when I thought he would get well enough to go back there.
