As a kid I went to the River theater on N. Chester for 25 cents. It later was Buck Owens recording studio.
I used to see Bonnie Owens at the laundromat all the time. She was married to both Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.
Oh, btw, Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield has closed. So, if anyone wants to buy it, it’s probably still for sale.
I saw Buck there once, and Junior Brown a few years later.
I think that most crtitcism should be directed at this guy to caving over this. The article just mentions a few Karens. I don’t see anything about widespread protests, boycott threats or anything like that.
I went on opening night, and the ticket was laminated on a chain to wear around the neck. I misplaced or lost it in the years since. 
In his defense, the area he was going to put it was around the KC Current women’s soccer stadium and the Karen’s were the Official Support Group of the team.
He chose to cut his losses and not risk the wrath of middle class white female liberals.
I ride with a lot of white middle class female liberals who are soccer fans who also try to support black owned businesses. .
Agreed for the most part. But on the other hand, black people that don’t play nice by the left’s petty games tend to be abused by (mostly fellow black) leftists.

Idk what it is like to be black, but I imagine if I were a black business owner, I would not want to be dealing with shit like that.
Might sour the experience enough to not be worth all the risk and effort of running a business.

Opening a small business is a giant risk to begin with.
To start with a giant cloud over your head just due to the name makes it an even bigger risk.
And the the thing is, this is a pretty big local story, so even if he changed the name he is in a no win situation.
Peopel think bars are cheap to open, they can cost a lot of money. I don’t blame him.
But white lefties think black people aren’t capable of surviving without their help, from owning a business to voting.
The Sundowners were a country band in Chicago when I was younger, there’s also a Sundown Saloon in Wisconsin. I’ve never heard anyone complain about the name of either of them, woke lefties in KC have too much time on their hands.
