Not really. I got an auto quote from them a few years ago but didn’t go further.
They are expensive but you are supposed to get a rebate. They always how up in the top for insurance providers
I have had Amica for our auto, home, and umbrella policies since 1990, with the exception of a three year period when I tried another insurance company because it was less expensive, but then went back to Amica.
I have nothing but good things to say about Amica and nothing but bad things to say about that other company that I tried for three years
Without identifying the company can you share the circumstances that caused you to go back?
How much are you saving with the high deductible? My homeowners premium is around $2,000 a year with a deductible around $2,500.
It’s been a while since I checked. Mine is only around $1,300 a year I think.
Did you get a refund check? Did that ease the price at all?
There’s no right answer on deductible. It’s up to each consumer to assess the options available in the market and decide what their risk/likelihood of a claim is, how much liquid savings they have and are willing to spend on a deductible, and where the premium-to-deductible ratio makes the most sense in light of the other factors.
Every situation is different, so taking explicit advice from others comes with some heavy caveats.
Lot of folks probably thinking about that today and tomorrow in the deep south.
This is true. I am retired and my income is “limited”. I had a quote for insurance that had a deductible of $8500 for wind and hail damage, which, is the likeliest damage you get in the midwest. The quote was $1800 per year with the $8500 deductible and $2100 per year for $2,000 deductible… The $300 difference was worth it for me. I had a tree branch fall on my house at the end of July that was $40,000 damage, so I’m sure I"ll have to shop around again when it’s time for renewal.
