I’m not sure it can, if all three teams threw out games, it would benefit the chiefs because that would eliminate two of their three losses, which happen to be head to head and would factor in the standings.

Well…this is clear as mud. It looks like the AFC title came will be at a neutral site.
The article suggests that KC had the lead for the #1 seed and Buffalo was trying to wrestle it away. Buffalo went into last week with the lead due to their win over KC. KC might have been technically ahead before that game, but only because they’d already played and Buffalo hadn’t.
Still have to assign someone the bye, right? I don’t see that part in their explanation.
To be fair, this situation is unprecedented and Goodell has done a great job at navigating through it.
