Gen Z tipping less (yes, another tipping thread)

You are most likely right. It’s kind of like the contempt that many are feeling about so many jobs that didn’t get tips in the past. Remember…restaurant workers lived on tips because they were paid barely over $2 per hour to actually DO stuff for you. IF someone would rather have been a cook or a hostess or a busboy, they got paid a better wage that didn’t require tips. And more and more we are being asked to tip BEFORE any service has been performed. Finally - you seem to have a tough time getting a joke.

LOL

You might ought to work on your delivery. :kissing_heart:

I could tell KC was being sarcastic about getting a tip from his co-workers for prioritizing their stuff.

I get the similar thing in my job. For me the biggest tip I need is that a high-ranking executive wants that done or my boss telling me to put it at the top of my list.

Another ridiculous tipping example:

And, for another entitled attitude:

From the article…

Allegretto points out that a lot of tipped workers across the U.S. (many in the food service industry) earn a subminimum wage ($2.13 per hour is the federal subminimum) with the idea that tips will get them up to the minimum wage, but that doesn’t always happen.

The author leaves out that if a tipped employee doesn’t make the minimum wage with tips the employer will pay the difference.
