After perusing the day’s hot topics on this board this morning, I looked up three causes of deaths in our country, here’s what I found:

Obesity… approx 300,000

Automobile accidents… approx 40,000

Firearms (incl accidents)… approx 47,000

To me, it looks like we spend a lot of money trying to prevent car accidents, but not so much on trying to address deaths caused by being too fat. And maybe we should push safer gun practice a little more.

I see a parallel in the gun safety and obesity defenders. [Gun advocates](https://home.nra.org/) and [pro-fat advocats](https://naafa.org/aboutus) will probably fight the efforts to find valid solutions for their respective interests.
