Can money buy happiness?

I can understand him not wanting a supervisory roll. It sounds like his issue was not about him not getting promoted but about the person who was promoted not being the ideal supervisor. I would not say he created his own misery here. Heck, had he accepted the promotion himself knowing he didn’t really want to supervise people, that would have been making his own misery.

While that is true, his constant complaint was that he had more knowledge and wouldn’t do it that way if he was in charge. But I have an issue with someone complaining about something when they refused the obvious solution.

That sounds like it was his time to leave, then.

I would bet that he trusted that his employer would hire somebody more capable for the position. Though, admittedly, it is possible that he would have been miserable no matter who was hired. If so, that is another reason for him to have left.

I don’t know. Elon seems pretty damn happy…

My late father in law was a brilliant man and a chemical engineer. He knew his stuff quite well. Back in the 60’s he worked for Proctor and Gamble and was “rewarded” with a supervisory position. Trouble was - he wanted to do chemical engineering and not supervise people. He ended up having a nervous breakdown. He left P&G and got a position in the wastewater department for the county. It was an ideal position for him…the looked to him for his knowledge and respected that he didn’t want to be a supervisor. He was there for a little over 30 years. And was happy. True, he could have made more at P&G had he “toughed it out”, but it wasn’t worth more money to have to do that.

It’s the Holikme 30 Feet Dryer Vent Cleaner Kit. On sale now for $22.

It’s pretty easy, fiberglass rods you connect together with a brush on one end. Make sure you follow the directions, only run the drill clockwise or the rods will come apart in the duct. Not good.

I pulled out the dryer and ran the rods through the duct from the outside and marked the last rod with a sharpie when it was a few inches from the end of the duct inside. I turn the dryer on air fluff (no heat) and run the rods and brush in from the outside a couple times a year and once a year I also pull out the dryer and clean the connection from the duct to the dryer.
