You get used to it, your body acclimates to the heat. When my parents moved out there over 35 years ago they planned to go to Wisconsin for the summer, after 1 year they just stayed in Arizona. They did buy a cabin in Pinetop which is 30 degrees difference than the Phoenix area, cooler in the summer and snow in the winter.
The places we want to go (MT, Alberta, Alaska) we have to go in summer. But if we get the pool, that would make summer in AZ a lot more palatable.
We already know we need to leave for the 2 hottest months of year and im okay with that.
We have friends in Surprise and in Carefree. The ones in Surprise used to go to Logan UT for 2-3 months every summer. They stopped during covid and are talking about going back. The ones in Carefree go back to Michigan for awhile around Christmas. They say they miss the holiday snow, but I suspect it’s the grandkids.
But if we get the pool, that would make summer in AZ a lot more palatable.
My parents had a pool even though their huge subdivision had several community pools, it help when we sold the house after they passed away. Both my Arizona sisters have a pool and don’t regret it, plus family and friends visiting from out of state expect a pool there. My one sisters pool has a 10 person Jacuzzi connected that waterfalls into the pool, my other sisters pool is like 40,000 gallons which is pretty big for a residential pool. It’s T shaped with a deep end with a diving board and the top of the T is 3’ on the ends and 5 and a half foot in the center, great for volleyball and basketball in the pool.
