I don’t totally agree with this premise, since the two circumstances are a bit different. With that said, I have a whole lot more sympathy for Watson now than I did for Favre in 2008.

I remember in early 2008 when Favre announced he was retiring, only to change his mind in March and have the Packers let him back, then change his mind again and retire, then decide he didn’t want to retire again in the summer. I remember thinking that Packers’ GM Ted Thompson had the cojones to finally tell him they were done with his waffling and were moving on.

Watson is not playing games like that. He just wants out of a dysfunctional organization. I can’t say that I blame him.
