If self check outs confuse you, maybe use the “real person” check out? I use selfs all the time, only time I need help is when their machine screws up.
I avoid self checkout line the plague. Too many errors and stores will arrest for those errors.
Also if I wanted to play cashier. I would be a cashier. Next they’ll have you unloading the trucks out back.
I only use self-checkout if it’s a few items, much easier. I rarely use self-checkout at the Costco, I do like when they have somebody with a barcode reader come up to you in line and pre-scan you. They scan your card, scan everything in the cart and you tell the cashier you’re pre-scanned, pay and go.

I use my forklift. Its way less work.
