Something annoying about several local Facebook groups I follow is people trying to be funny when they’re just being an idiot and not answering a question, but add their 2 cents anyway .One example is someone asking for the best Thai restaurant in a specific area, then people answer “there is none”, “you have to go to somewhere 80 miles away” or talk crap about restaurants others recommend.
Another thing is if you can’t answer a question with the facts, don’t bother answering. In neighborhood chat groups someone will ask “does anyone know what is being built between the Starbucks and Cooper’s Hawks?” And people will guess, respond with something stupid or say what they hope it will be. Sheesh.
Yep fake book is a waste of time. This sort of commenting is sort of like our friendly local Troll posting blather in many threads. At least we can put it on ignore and greatly diminish the noise level.
I only belong to my cycling group’s facebook page and that is a private page. There are about 400 members. The vast majority of us are left/liberal and we have in the rules - no politics. Because some of our members are conservative. Seems to work out well.
If there are no politics in the group how do you know the members are mostly lefties? I’m in several groups that have tens of thousands of members and have no idea how any of them lean politically.
We don’t post politics in the facebook group. I am friends with many and they post politics on their personal pages. But won’t find it on the group’s facebook page. We might talk politics on ride, but that’s actually rare. If you aren’t friends on FB outside the group, then you might not know their politics, although you seem to know the politics and finances of many of your coworkers.
You’ve talked politics with the majority of the 400 members on rides? Most people I know don’t post politics on their personal Facebook pages, but most of the people I know on Facebook are righties and aren’t obsessed with politics.
Nope. I have a circle of friends that will discuss politics. YOu see to know the politics and pay and spending habits of your coworkers. I never discussed pay with a coworker, even though for the last 20 years my pay was public record. If someone asked me my pay, I would usually respond with “enough”. But if you haven’t seen FB posts from your righty friends, I might attribute that to a lack of friends.
I have less than 200 Facebook friends, most of them I actually know and have met in person. A couple righties might have posted something political once or twice, but the lefties post about politics a lot, especially after the last election.
Then how do you know “The vast majority of us are left/liberal”?
I know. See…I know more than most as I am a ride leader so I ride with several different people. But one more time - it’s not political on OUR page. ARe you this big of a prick in real life?
